Cool, wet conditions didn’t dampen producer interest at the 5th Annual McBee Cattle Company’s SELECTION DAY Sale as over 200 people from six states gathered to sample Teri McBee’s free lunch and take part in the private treaty auction. All sale bulls were performance measured and ratioed for rib-eye area (REA), intra-muscular fat (IMF) and their McBee Growth Ratio (MGR). Buyers also had access to each bull’s birth wt., birth wt. ratio, average daily gain on test, scrotal circumference, frame score and 7 EPD measurements. While all the McBee cattle were performance measured from birth, none had received any corn and were developed and tested on a forage and fiber ration.
Buyer activity for the 5th SELECTION DAY Sale was very active as 44 buyers purchased 38 bull lots and 28 female lots. Of the 44 buyers at this year’s sale, 22 were new McBee Cattle Company customers and 22 were repeat buyers.
The top selling animal in this year’s offering was MCB Legend 7205, a March spring yearling purchased by 2 Bar Rockin K, Yancey, Texas for $5,000 for one-half interest. Tim and Kathy Kohlleppel, owners of 2 Bar Rockin K, were first time customers at McBee’s SELECTION DAY Sale.
